Course Descriptions:

1600 Clock hours for the Cosmetology Course consists of three levels of theoretical and practical instruction offered in 40 hour per week over a forty three week time period that is extended to forty eight weeks to allow a 10% absence factor. This course in cosmetology leads to a diploma of course completion in cosmetology. Pre-requisites for this

course include a high school degree or GED , and a minimum age of 17 at entrance and age 18 at graduation. Attendees are required to maintain satisfactory progress in regard to attendance and grades in addition to meeting the graduation requirements of successfully passing the school’s final written and practical exam with a score of 76% or higher in order to graduate.

Primary topics covered in this course along with a brief description are included in the
pages to follow. As Described in Pivot Point Scientific Approach topics and Salon Fundamentals: Design Forum issues, and the Mindful Teaching briefs and concepts. Limited to 25% instructional use of mannequins and simulated hair components as described in Chapter WAC 308-20-080.

Master Educator- Instructor Course

This course is designed to teach licensed professionals how to teach students. Although a person may know how to perform a styling technique, it takes much more knowledge to teach someone how to do the same styling technique. This course will develop your teaching strategies as well as give you insight on how to teach successful students.

600 Clock hours For the Master Educator- Instructor Course consists of three levels of theoretical and practical instruction offered in 40 hour per week over a 17 week time period that is extended to 18 weeks to allow emergency and unforeseen illness leave. This course leads to a diploma of course completion in Master Educator- Instructor Training. Pre-requisites for this course include completion of an entrance interview with Academy staff, a high school degree or GED , a current Washington State Cosmetology License in good standing with The Department Of Licensing: and a minimum of two years consistent vocational experience within the industry for graduation. Attendees are required to maintain satisfactory progress in regard to attendance and grades in addition to meeting the graduation requirements of successfully passing the school’s final written and practical exam with a score of 76% or higher in order to graduate.

Barbering Course.

1100 Clock hours for the Barbering Course Consists of two levels of theoretical and practical instruction offered in 40 hour week of training. The course is 27.5 weeks long with perfect attendance. The course in Barbering leads to a diploma of course completion in Barbering. Pre-requisites for this course include a high school degree or GED, and trainees must
be a minimum of 17 years of age at enrollment, and age 18 at graduation. Trainees shall maintain satisfactory progress in regard to attendance and grades in addition to meeting the graduation requirements of successfully passing the school’s final written and practical exam with a score of no less than 76% or higher to graduate.

Design Forum issues, Mindful Teaching briefs and concepts shall be used for methods of instruction. As described in WAC 308-20-080 the use of mannequins may be limited to not more than 25% of the Trainees

Pre-requisites for this course include Trainee entering the Course at age 17 and being age 18 upon graduation, and a high school degree or GED. Attendees are required to maintain satisfactory progress in regard to attendance and grades in addition to meeting the graduation requirements of successfully passing the school’s final written and practical exam with a score of 76% or higher in order to graduate.

Esthetics Course

One of the fastest growing professional segments of the cosmetology industry is Esthetics. The Esthetician is responsible for the care, repair and enhancement of the skin, our largest organ. As the general population ages and becomes more aware of the importance of this vital organ, the Esthetics industry is booming. Every day, more and more women as well as men are seeking treatment and instruction in the care of their skin.

650 Clock hours for the Esthetics Trainee Course Consists of theoretical and practical instruction offered in a 40 hours per week over a 17 week time period. This period is extended to 18 weeks to allow emergency and unforeseen illness leave. Course leads to a diploma of course completion in Esthetician Training. Pre-requisites for this course include Trainee entering the course at age 17 and being age 18 upon graduation. Trainee must have earned a High School degree or GED. Attendees are required to maintain Satisfactory progress in regard to attendance and grades in addition to meeting the graduation requirements of successfully passing the school’s final written and practical exam with a score of 76% or higher in order to graduate.

Prepares the trainee for entry-level positions as an esthetician. Successful graduates are prepared to take the Washington State Esthetics Practical and Written Licensing Examinations.
